Pumpkey is a great option for budget travelers in Tokyo. the hostel is conveniently located near the subway line, just a few stops away from popular areas like Shinjuku and Shibuya. They allowed me to pay the next day when I had trouble with my travel card. the rooms are clean and each door has a lock for added security. I also appreciated the separate toilet and shower facilities for female guests.
The hostel provides a free and delicious simple breakfast. Cons: Nothing at all.

the beds were clean and provided a private atmosphere with the help of curtains. the air conditioning was great, ensuring a comfortable temperature, and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast every morning. the living room was cozy and offered a beautiful view. We appreciated the convenience of having a microwave and fridge, even allowing us to cook our own meals. the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, providing assistance whenever we needed it. the location was ideal, with a stunning nearby park, plenty of restaurants, and even a famous jazz club within walking distance. If we return to Japan, we would definitely choose Pumpkey again. Cons: Nothing-all good! 👍.

The menu for breakfast could be improved with more variety and options.

For the price we paid, Hostel Pumpkey was great value. The room was comfortable and we had a traditional Japanese experience sleeping on a futon. The location was ideal, with Shinjuku's main attractions just a short walk away, and there was a lovely park nearby. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making our stay enjoyable.
Hotel breakfast could have been improved with more variety.

The location was very convenient, close to public transportation and within walking distance of restaurants, parks, and museums. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing recommendations for places to visit and helping us find open establishments during the holidays. The complimentary breakfast was a nice treat, with a variety of food options available. The dormitory and bathroom facilities were clean and well-maintained, and the beds were comfortable for a good night's sleep.
The beds were slightly uncomfortable, as they were harder than expected. Additionally, the steel stairs leading to the top bunk bed were narrow and could be uncomfortable to use, feeling like they were cutting into the legs.

Love this place! It was my second stay here and it truly felt like a home away from home. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always going the extra mile to make my stay comfortable. The bedding was so soft and cozy, it was like sleeping on a cloud. The whole place had a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and I met some really friendly fellow travelers. The bathrooms were spotless with plenty of hot water, and the rooms were spacious, especially for a city like Tokyo. I also really appreciated the privacy curtains and bed lights in the dorm room.
While there were many things to love about this hostel, there were a couple of minor downsides. One was that the beds were a bit creaky, which could get annoying at times.

The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They were always available to answer questions and provide recommendations. The location of the hotel was great, with easy access to public transportation and a variety of restaurants and supermarkets nearby. We also appreciated the clean and well-maintained shower facilities.
We were disappointed that towels were not provided for the price we paid. It would have been more convenient if towels were included in the room rate.

As a budget traveler, I loved the convenience of being less than 5 minutes away from the Metro station. the newly renovated shower room was extremely clean, just like the rest of the facilities. I also appreciated the delicious breakfast that was ready for me early in the morning, complete with rice balls, miso soup, and coffee. I had a great experience and would definitely stay here again.
Felt most welcome, no complaints.

I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at Pumpkey and my room was ready for me, even though it was only 1 pm. The location was perfect, with the subway station just a 3-4 minute walk away and plenty of restaurants and supermarkets nearby. The shower facilities were always clean and I never had to wait thanks to multiple showers available. The small breakfast of onigiri every morning was a nice touch. I had a great experience at Pumpkey and would definitely book again. Recommended! I highly recommend this hostel.
